      Predator Nutrition Trutein 2lb Review

It is hard to know where to start when it comes to assessing the qualities of Trutein.

Do you talk first about the flavour being market leading in quality and texture? Or maybe you concentrate on the fact you get the highest quality sources of protein available on the market today with the benefit that it comes in a low fat, low carbohydrate product? The fact Trutein includes enzymes for better digestion?

The superlatives go on and on for Trutein from the fact it is regarded as the best protein available as well as the best tasting to the innovative use of novel ingredients such as their nonthermally processed dairy proteins which ensures better uptake by your body.

All in all, it means that for those looking for the best thing around, stop and look carefully at Trutein and ask yourself does ANYTHING come close to this for quality?

      Label Dressing

      Label Dressing - Definition

To "dress up" a product's label with claims/statements that make the product appear healthier or better than it really is. Often used on protein supplement labels in reference to micellar casein and Omega-3s.

      • Most labels claims that tout the inclusion of micellar casein, omega-3s, etc. are misleading
      • They are misleading because the ingredients are in amounts too small to be effective
      • Cheaper fillers are almost always used as substitutes
      • Trutein's labeling integrity program aims to inform consumers exactly what's inside

Simply put, label "dressing" is the term that supplement marketers use to describe doctoring supplements to make them appear much better than they really are. For example, many proteins exclaim in bold letters the inclusion of micellar casein and egg white, yet the reality of the matter is that unless the specific proportions are clearly delineated, chances are good that the blend contains less than 5 percent of micellar casein and egg white. This is because whey is less than half the cost of micellar casein and egg protein. This is a classic instance of a company being more concerned with profits than with quality.

Now the whole point of using micellar casein and egg white is for their unique anabolic and anti-catabolic properties, which are different than whey. By adding only tiny amounts of these protein forms, it defeats the whole purpose of their inclusion, thus rendering the "label claim" pointless and misleading. Ultimately, these companies are breaching the trust between them and you, and you, as the consumer are being duped.

Trutein, on the other hand, values labeling integrity. Consequently, Trutein reveals exactly the percentage component of its indan rest assured that you truly are receiving the highest quality formula available.

      Triple Protein Blend

      trutein chart

Trutein contains three different forms of protein: whey, micellar casein and egg white. The   benefits of supplementing with both micellar casein and egg white alongside whey are their very different rates of absorption. While whey is quickly broken down within an hour, egg proteins are absorbed within 2.5 to 3 hours and micellar caseins are digested over the course of 7 hours. Taken together, this means that Trutein promotes stabilized total-body amino acid saturation to continually fuel muscle synthesis.

One key measure of your body’s ability to build muscle is your degree of nitrogen balance. A positive nitrogen balance signifies periods of new growth (anabolism) while a negative nitrogen balance indicates periods of tissue breakdown (catabolism). Trutein’s sustained-release blend ensures a constant influx of amino acids to maintain long-run positive nitrogen balances.

Trutein predominantly uses the “isolate” forms of whey and micellar casein (from milk protein isolate) as opposed to the “concentrate” forms, which are less pure. For every 100 grams of whey or milk protein, the isolate form yields over 90 grams of pure protein, whereas the concentrate form yields only between 34 to 80 grams of pure protein with the remainder existing as fat and lactose. Isolates are also significantly pricier than concentrates. Trutein, as an ultra-premium protein supplement, maximizes its use of the superior isolate form because we know that professional athletes require the competitive edge that isolates yield.

Our proteins are processed using a nonthermal, cross-flow nanofiltration system to give the cleanest possible product. This filtration process also retains many of the naturally-occurring bioactive peptides within the proteins. These bioactive protein fractions include alpha-lactalbumin, beta-lactoglobulin, glycomacropeptides and lactoferrin, all of which support healthy immune and digestive systems. Some of their mechanisms of actions include inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria and binding to important nutrients to enhance overall bio-utilization.

    • Lives up to the hype!

      11 January 2014

first of all i was totally skeptical of people praising Trutein cause i thought it be the usual overhyped buy this protein load of rubbish, but man was i wrong, bought a tub of the cinnabun flavour its freaking unreal! its more of a oaty cinnamon flavour but the taste is brilliant! texture is good as well mixes easily, the other flavour i have tried is the orange creamsicle, that is also a great flavour, the only downside i'd say about this is its quite hoping the cost will go down eventually,,,,, Trutein taste wise.....Lives up to the hype!

Having bee delighted with the flavouring system of the chocolate PB, I opted for something slightly different and boy didn't they let me down!

Out of the two the orange edges it. A stronger flavour than the mango, and is wonderful.

A definite variation from the usual chocolate, vanilla, banana or strawberry we see so much of.

I love this protein so much, can't believe I have missed out on it until recently!

      Heaven in a shaker!!

Opted for the Chocolate Peanut Butter

I am a big PB Fan, so much so, I never buy it, I literally demolish a tub in hours. I've never been one to prioritise taste where a powder was concerned. Since flavouring came to the front, I Can honestly say, I am yet to find a bad tasting powder - I'm in no way a premium only kind of guy..

I purchase this purely for the content profile, but wow. What a taste, mixed with 300ml skimmed milk this tastes simply define. With one scoop, the consistently was thick enough and wasn't tempted to add more. This is great, I can have another later on!!

Will be back to try another flavour, this is amazing!!!!!

      Choc PB Cup

      20 July 2013

I honestly debated rating this one star, just to put people off buying it. But then i said id just be honest and hope predator triple the amount of this stuff that they order, im not surprised its out of stock regularly, its just ridiculous. I reviewed the cinnamon bun before and gave it 5 stars, but if i could give this on 6 i would.
It literally tastes EXACTLY like you would expect a Reese's drink to taste. Ive actually tried a Reese's PB Cup milkshake, and it was nice dont get me wrong, but id rather drink to scoops of this stuff in milk, amazing. Its so good it makes me question if its actually protein or liquified PB cups!

Also, value is rated low because i buy from Ireland.

      Nothing tastes better

Trutein is the best tasting shake I've experienced! And I've definitely been through my fair share - Kept me full noticably longer than the others too

      Trutein is awesome

      8 July 2013

I'm only using the vanilla flavor right now but to me, it's the best protein on the market. A real treat even with water at the end of a workout, amazing with milk (and i don't like milk usually) it's also great to cook with (protein crepes, pancakes, cupcakes and even ice cream).

I still have two tubs but those go so fast :)

      Various Flavour Reviews

      1 June 2013

Banana Cream - On the money, this is prob my favorite full stop. Banana split and clotted cream. Enough said!!! Absolutely amazing with full fat milk!

Cinnebun: 2nd fave. I've bought two tubs - 2.5lb and 5lb. The 5lb tastes different - almondy taste and almost as though you can taste a zesty frosting flavour too. Awesome. The 2.5lb tasted better though for some reason as it tasted more doughy.

Choc PB: Perfect flavouring - spot on authentic. Wife's favorite.

Orange Creamsicle: Nice. Not amazing but very tasty. Almost like orange skittles. Best made with milk and loads of ice like a Costa/Starbucks Frappe.

Pumpkin: Nice but as a one-off. I suppose it's an American flavour thing... Glad I only bought the small one. Never had pumpkin pie mind you but clear nutmeg, cinnamon and pastry flavouring. Nice around Christmas i bet.

Be warned - these all tasted funky without milk and left an artificial after taste - even the orange. You're wasting the exceptional flavouring if you don't use milk. No comparison.

I only use lactofree milk as it has half the sugar than regular and justifies the whole milk calories.

Tip: Mix well then leave the shake in the fridge or freezer for 5 - 10 mins. This allows the casein to absorb the fluid and thicken and eliminates any graininess in texture.

      Brilliant Taste

      10 April 2013

Bought the Cinnamon Bun flavour after reading brilliant reviews about it online. This tastes absolutely amazing with water and even better with milk. Brilliant blend of Whey, Micellar Casein and Egg white, the only down side is that it's a little pricey but worth it as I believe this is the best protein blend on the market at the moment. Thumbs up !

Delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Taste!

      8 April 2013

After trying so many protein powders, searching for the one with the best taste and nutritional profile I can now safely say my search is finally over! Trutein Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is by far the best tasting protein powder I have ever tried. As soon as you open the lid, the pleasant aroma of chocolate and peanut butter hits you. Taste 10/10, Mixability 10/10
