Why

It can be difficult to get the level of calories needed to drive muscle gain from diet alone. When you feel stuffed from eating so much food you inevitably end up eating too few calories. Rather than using a sugar based weight gainer though, Fast Food provides organic protein and real food sources from vegetables and oats which helps to ensure that you can get the calories you need in a healthy way that promotes sustained energy and muscle recovery.

When

Fast Food can be used as a meal replacement any time of the day or can be used between meals to top up your body's requirements when seeking to bulk up.

Who

Individuals trying to gain weight and eat more healthily who struggle to get enough quality calories from food.

Predator Nutrition Fast Food Review

Rich Piana's 5% Nutrition Real Food singlehandedly rewrote the rules on what a meal replacement/weight gaining supplement should look like. Forget about the weight gainers of the 1990's, Real Food uses real food sources for a healthier and nutritious alternative to both the traditional weight gainer shake as well as an easier way to gain weight than consuming lots of food. Blackstone Labs Fast Food has used the Real Food template in the design of their product but with some distinctive changes.

Fast Food is a Misnomer

When you think of fast food you are probably thinking Big Mac's, Colonel Sanders and mega-sized pizza. As such we can't help but think Blackstone could have picked a different name as their Fast Food gainer is anything but junk. Fast Food is not even full of fast digesting food sources like sugar so let's look instead at what it does contain.

Powered by an Organic Vegan Protein Source as Potent as Whey

When we look at the label the first ingredient is organic pea protein isolate, a hypoallergenic, vegan protein source which has gained a lot of attention recently in the sports nutrition world thanks to pea protein being shown in some recent research to be as good as whey protein for building muscle thickness.[1]

Fast Food keeps it organic with organic brown rice, another protein source which complements the amino acid profile found in pea protein and which keeps the protein sources as dairy free.

Healthy Sustained Release Carbohydrates

The biggest difference between Fast Food and traditional weight gainers is the use of low GI carbohydrates in the form of potato powder, wild yam, and organic oats. Unlike sugar based gainers it means the release of energy from Fast Food is slow and controlled making it perfect for athletes who are trying to minimise drastic swings in blood sugar which are notorious for causing rebound hunger and excessive fat gain. Of course the other benefit with the use of real foods is you are also getting a healthy complement of vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients as opposed to the empty calories of a sugar based gainer.

With the addition of MCT powder and coconut water powder, Fast Food also provides you with electrolytes and a fat which helps promote performance without causing fat gain. Finally, in case you were wondering about whether you would have digestive issues consuming so many grain and vegetable based ingredients, Blackstone Labs have added two digestive enzymes to help promote optimal digestion.

Real Food vs Fast Food

The main difference between these two products is that while Fast Food provides two good protein sources Real Food does not so if you are looking for a single product to act as a meal replacement you have to give the edge to Blackstone Labs.

On the other hand, if you prefer to combine healthy carb sources with your own protein then Real Food allows you greater flexibility in how you construct your diet plus it avoids artificial flavours while also including blueberry fruit powder so.
