Casein proteins are pH sensitive and gel in the acidic environment of the stomach. As a result, it can take more than twice as long for caseins to be broken-down into their amino acid subcomponents than whey and other proteins. Because of these unique "time-released" qualities, caseins are aptly described as being anti-catabolic, or muscle-protecting, proteins.

Taste: 10/10. The vanilla and banana flavor both taste superb mixed with water and milk. My preference is with the vanilla which normally isn't a flavor I go for. Either way, both taste way better than your standard whey shake. Mix-ability: 10/10. This stuff dissolves instantly in a shaker with no residue or lumps at all. Even if you use too little water the powder totally dissolves, you just end up with a super thick shake! Nutritional ratios: 9/10. Casein is known to clot in the stomach, giving it a nice slow digestion time. It also contains dairy calcium which is important for bone health. Excellent nutrition for pre-bed and between meals. Cost: 8/10. Compared to whey based protein shakes casein in general is a little more costly. Even so I don't consider casein a whey replacement so I'm not marking it down too much. Overall: 9/10. The taste, mix-ability and nutritional ratios of this product are top notch. For a pre-bed and between meal shake this stuff is at the top of my list but for pre/post workout your better off with some cheaper and fast absorbing whey. If you currently consume casein shakes or are considering trying them then this stuff is worth a go!
