Why

Paramol is a stronger painkiller that can only be purchased via a licensed pharmacy. Used for the management of acute, moderate pain, it combines paracetamol and dihydrocodeine which work synergistically to deliver a great analgesic effect than either medicine alone. Due to the fact dihydrocodeine is part of the opioid class you should not use this for more than three days. Orders are reviewed by a pharmacist.

When

Paramol is strictly for the short term management of acute, moderate pain where over the counter painkillers are not effective. Refer to the patient leaflet for full guidance notes.

Who

Complete prescribing information is detailed in the patient leaflet but in general Paramol is suitable for both adult men and women suffering from intense pain.

Pharmacy medicines are provided by a licensed UK pharmacy and each medicine involves customers certifying the medicine is applicable for them which in turn is assessed by a pharmacist.

Silverwood Pharmacy is a licensed UK pharmacy which is able to dispense pharmacy medicines (Pmeds) to users under the supervision of their superintendent pharmacist.

Paramol is a leading UK brand name painkiller which utilises two painkillers from different classes - the NSAID, paracetamol and the opioid, dihydrocodeine.

Paramol is designed for short-term acute, moderate pain such as back pain, period pain, dental pain, muscular pain, joint pain, and migraines. It is NOT recommended for ongoing pain management due to concerns over the addictive nature of dihydrocodeine.

Three Days Only

Indeed, it should only be used for three days.If pain persists still, patients should consult their physician to identify how best to manage such pain.

What is in Paramol?

Paramol contains 500mg of paracetamol and 7.46mg of dihydrocodeine per tablet.

Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen, is the most widely used painkiller in the world and helps to relieve both pain and fever. .

Dihydrocodeine is an opioid medicine which is approximately 1.5 times more potent than codeine itself. It fights pain through its effect on opioid receptors found in the body which produces endrophins that reduces the transmission of pain signals to the brain.

When dihydrocodeine is used in conjunction with paracetamol, the combined painkilling effect is greater than either compound alone.
