Ingredients: Caffeine, Creatine Monohydrate, Taurina, Beta Alanine, Alpha Keto Glutarate, Nelumbo Nucifera, Dextrose Monoyhdrate, Citric Acid, Flavourings, Natural Colouring, Stabilisers, Sucralose. |
Directions For Use
Mix 1 scoop with 250-300ml of water adjusting for taste. For a less intense workout scale down to half a scoop. We do not recommend taking more than one scoop as the caffeine dose will be unsafe. Why
Poison is a preworkout which packs a lot of caffeine in a stylish design as well as the stimulant higenamine and 2g of beta-alanine which certainly will make your body tingle if you are not used to the ingredient. For those who like a stylishly designed product, albeit one that is derivative of a vodka, then you will like Poison.
When
Poison is high in stims so we suggest not using this more than 3 times a week and recommend a break after one month of at least 5 days.
Who
Those who like a lot of caffeine plus those who like the packaging which is certainly different for the industry.
TF7 Labs Poison inevitably catches your eye in a retail store with it adopting the same skull bottle design famous to Crystal Head Vodka fans but can TF7 Labs do more than come out with a nicely packaged gimmick in a crowded pre-workout marketplace?
Fancy Design but Formula Falls Short
We really wanted to like this product. The brand behind it deserve a lot of credit for thinking about how their products would look but when we saw a formula we had reservations. To start with Poison contains 2 grams of beta-alanine, an ingredient which needs daily dosing at 3.2g according to studies. While this does not deliver that it is a respectable amount and will have you tingling after drinking a serving of Poison.
It is the next three ingredients that are disappointing. Taurine and AKG belong in the 1990's while the 500mg dose of creatine monohydrate is not going to do much for anyone. We don't know who formulated Poison but the brand could do with looking again at these ones.
On a better note, Poison delivers in one area important to people - energy! With 420mg of caffeine and 50mg higenamine, this delivers a huge surge of energy although we did find that we were crashing towards the end of the workout from the high caffeine dose, a stimulant notorious for a short half-life.
All in all, Poison is not a bad product and will work well for those who engage in short, intense sessions but this is a product which could and should have been so much better in our view.
