Why

We all love a treat when we have been training and dieting hard but most people will get bored with protein bars as even the best ones lack the indulgence of our favourite cake based desserts. This is where Flapjacked have delivered with their range of Mighty Muffins which manage to replicate the taste of a heated cake/muffin while managing to deliver 20g of protein, most of it from whey isolate while keeping the calories to only around 200 per muffin and all the while avoiding any artificial ingredients.

When

Perfect for after the gym or any time you would otherwise find yourself hunting down unhealthy cheat foods.

Who

Ideal for dieters, those with a sweet tooth and really anyone wanting to add variety to their diet and sick of artificial tasting protein products.

Predator Nutrition Mighty Muffins Review

One look at Flapjacked's Mighty Muffins and your tongues will being to salivate as you imagine the combination of taste and protein that is about to enter your lives.

Great Macros

With 20g of protein in each serving, and 40% less carbohydrates than a regular muffin, combined with all the different flavours of Mighty Muffins being certified gluten free and free from artificial ingredients of any kind, Flapjacked have delivered in a big way on the ingredient side of things. Certainly, if you are looking for a protein dessert that makes sense for an athlete, especially one who is having to count their calories while dieting, you cannot do much better than Mighty Muffins. The question is, do they taste as good as they look?

How Good do Mighty Muffins Taste?

There is little doubt that there has been a trend away from healthy ingredients being the priority for most sports nutrition consumers towards taste becoming king. Will Mighty Muffins fare well in this regard?

The answer is an unequivolcal YES! Used as directed you will be amazed at how good these taste. Just put them in the microwave for 30 secs or so depending on the strength of your microwave oven, and then dig in with a spoon. We tried the chocolate one first and it basically tastes like a warm chocolate fudge cake, with the flavour being authentic and the moisture of the muffin just about perfect.

We tried the other flavours next - chocolate peanut butter, cinnamon apple, maple pumpkin and s'mores and there genuinely is not a weak one among them. We think that for Europeans, most will probably prefer the chocolate based muffins but it really is going to be based on your preference. Within our office the cinnamon apple got the most likes though, with the cinnamon and apple notes perfectly balanced and avoiding any artifical sweetness while being noticeably lighter compared to the chocolate based Mighty Muffins.

Overall, we think these are among the strongest, if not the strongest contender in the fast growing field of protein desserts.
