Directions For Use

Thread the ends of the straps through the loops to form circles. Put the straps on. Slide your hands through the circles or attach the straps with the hook-and-loop fasteners so the end of the straps hang down along your fingers. Pull on the ends of the straps or adjust the hook and loop fasteners until the straps fit snugly around your wrists. Wrap the ends of the strap around the bar (or bars) holding the weight. Start by going under the bar from back to front, and then wrapping the strap over the top and under again. Some weight trainers prefer to wrap the straps in a figure-8 configuration. Place your hands over the straps to hold them in place. If you're uncomfortable, re-wrap the straps. Roll the bar toward you until the straps are tight and pull on your wrists.

Why

There is nothing worse than setting up your bar to deadlift, going to lift and your hands slip from under the bar. This is easily done, and unfortunately unless you are Tarzan, your grip isn't going to be super strong. That's where lifting straps come in. And no, they aren't cheating - you still have to pull the weight with your body and your strength. So, wrap your lifting straps around your wrists and the barbell or piece of equipment and know that you will be able to pull the weight strongly without your grip failing.

When

These lifting straps are best used during your heavy workouts, where grip can fail quicker than the muscles. Put the straps around your wrists and then wrap onto your barbell or piece of equipment. Now do not use lifting straps for every exercise and every workout. Remember, your grip is formed from muscles, so they will need training in order to get stronger. So we only recommend that you use lifting straps for your strongest set.

Who

We recommend every athlete new to weight lifting or experienced use lifting straps, but only when your grip strength isn't strong enough for that set.

Predator Nutrition Dymatize Lifting Straps Review

A lot more than 2 durable pieces of cloth! Lifting straps have become an essential to the training of weightlifters, due to their ability to reinforce the grip. Grip strength is vital in weight lifting and it has been shown lifting straps can add 5% to the weight you can use. Straps not only help in increasing performance, but can help take some stress away from the wrist joints depending on the position of the straps.

Lifting straps are useful tools for weight training. If you've gained enough strength to start lifting heavier weights but find that your hand grip isn't strong enough to hold weights for exercises such as deadlifts, weighted pull-ups or shrugs, you should consider using lifting straps. The straps allow you to lift some of the weight with your wrists so you can hold onto it long enough to complete your exercise
