Predator Nutrition Shuanghuanglian Review

We recently wrote about Shuanghuanglian during a detailed review of the scientific evidence on various micronutrients' effects of lowering the risk of respiratory infection or else reducing the severity and time symptoms are present. You can learn more at the article below which summarises the evidence for you while providing links to the original studies so you can review the evidence yourselves.

Research Review of Supplements Shown to Support Immune Function

Before proceeding onwards we wish to make it clear that where we refer to Shuanghuanglian below, we are referring to the generic forms of the product rather than the specific Predator Nutrition branded version of it called Shuanghuanglian. While our version is made by a Chinese manufacturer, it is important to note it has not itself been used in trials with patients nor do we make any claims for its efficacy in treating any medical condition. Anybody who suspects they have any disease should ALWAYS refer to medical advice and never attempt to self-diagnose or treat themselves.

With that having been said, we now move onto looking at into how the generic product called Shuanghuanglian has been used in China.

Used to Treat Respiratory Infections in China

Shuanghuanglian has a long history of use in China going back 50 years where it is commonly used to treat various kinds of infectious diseases caused by bacterium or viruses in the respiratory tract. It comprises three different compounds, Lonicera japonica, Scutellaria baicalensis and Forsythia suspensa. Each of these inividual herbs have themselves a considerable body of research into their potential benefits for users with some of the references to each at the bottom of the page.

Shuanghuanglian, by containing all three, is nowadays a preferred treatment option in China than the individual use of these ingredients by themselves. Given both in oral and injectable forms (in hospitals only) researchers in China believe it could potentially inhibit 23 different pathogens with its usage being particularly widespread in China for use against influenza and common colds.

Shuanghuanglian Used in Covid-19 Patients

When the coronavirus epidemic grew rapidly in Wuhan, China this year there was of course no cure or reliable treatment protocol available at the outset. As a consequence of this, doctors in China attempted a number of treatment interventions with patients and among these was the use of Shuanghuanglian which is consistent with its previous widespread use as a treatment option for respiratory tract infections.

A number of patients have been prescribed Shuanghuanglian in China, both in conjunction with western medicines and also alongside other traditional chinese medicines. After various studies showed a degree of success from the use of Shuanghuanglian, with typical effects noted being an inhibition of the virus itself as well as improvement in symptoms associated with the virus, Shuanghuanglian was added to a list of medicines recommended for use when treating Coronavirus patients.

Predator Nutrition Shuanghuanglian

As we started to write our article on immune supplements it swiftly dawned upon us that while there was a solid, theoretical basid for the use of many supplements when it comes to supporting immunity, with some even showing specific antiviral benefits in studies, NONE of them had been actually used in the case of patients suffering from Covid-19. Thanks to our deep network of contacts in China, we swiftly made contact with a leading Chinese manufacturer of Shuanghuanglian and in conjunction with them created a very high potent extract Shuanghuanlian product with each capsule being equivalent to twice as strong as most Shuanghuanglian products available in China at the time.

While we make no claims relating to our version of the product, we will sign off on this writeup by introducing you to the various studies below where you can read more about the use of this product in China.
